Description
An unusual 9ct gold red and green cabochon pendant, individually sourced for LO Preloved.
This distinctive piece has a three-dimensional lantern-like form. Each side holds a smooth, domed cabochon in either rich red or vivid green. Together, the contrasting colours give the pendant a striking appearance from every angle.
Rather than having a traditional flat pendant construction, the piece has been built as a small geometric form. As a result, it changes completely as it moves on the chain. Different coloured cabochons come into view depending on the angle.
The rounded stones sit within raised gold surrounds. Meanwhile, open triangular detailing at the corners adds depth to the structure without making the pendant feel heavy.
The top is particularly beautiful. A pierced geometric pattern forms an intricate openwork panel, giving the piece another decorative element when viewed from above. In addition, the open construction allows light to move through the pendant and around the coloured cabochons.
Made in 9ct yellow gold, the warm tone of the metal works beautifully with both colours. The deep red gives the piece richness, while the green adds a brighter contrast.
Despite its small scale, this pendant has plenty of presence. It feels somewhere between a miniature lantern, a charm and a tiny jewelled object.
It can be worn alone as a focal pendant. Alternatively, its compact size makes it suitable for layering with other gold pieces.
A wonderfully unusual piece for anyone drawn to vintage gold with a little curiosity and character.
Chain not included unless otherwise stated.
Sourced for LO Preloved.
One of one, as always.
